Lindsey Nobel is an abstract expressionist painter whose energetic canvases pulse with gestural marks, drips, and layered colour. Her practice is rooted in the tradition of action painting — the canvas as a field of energy, the painting as a record of physical and emotional engagement.
Nobel works quickly and intuitively, building up surfaces through successive layers of paint, mark, and erasure. Each painting is a negotiation between control and surrender — between the artist's intention and the paint's own logic. The results are works of extraordinary vitality: alive, unpredictable, and deeply felt.
Her current exhibition at Studio 55, "Signals & Structures," brings together a new body of work that explores the tension between structure and spontaneity. The paintings are large, immersive, and demanding — they ask to be stood in front of, not merely looked at.
Nobel's work is held in private collections across Europe and the United States, and she has exhibited widely at art fairs and galleries internationally.
